Museum Niederösterreich

Description

In the centre of St. Pölten's government district lies a world full of history and nature - united in the Museum of Lower Austria. The natural history section of the museum, the so-called ‘House of Nature’, presents the diversity of Lower Austria's landscape and emphasises the region's special features. This can be explored along a path that leads from the high mountains to the lowlands and even underground into a show cave. Constantly changing special exhibitions on flora and fauna complement the museum's varied programme.

As a counterpart to the ‘House of Nature’, the ‘House of History’ informs interested visitors about the historical development of Lower Austria. Covering around 3,000 square metres, the ‘House of History’ offers more than 2,000 objects from local, regional, national and international lenders. The focus is on the period from the second half of the 19th century onwards.
